FTS

The Friends of Thurlestone School (FTS) is a registered charity and a member of the National Confederation of Parent Teachers Association.

The FTS comprises of a team of five officers;

Chairs - Annalese Murray, Bev Holmes and Nicola Coulson

Secretary - Elaine Hanmer Grant

Treasurer - Elisa Hesse

When you become a parent of the school, you become part of the FTS (Friends of Thurlestone School). Over the last couple of years the FTS together has raised staggering amounts of funds to enable the school grounds to be re vamped, the playground to be repainted, the introduction of music workshops, ensuring more school trips can go ahead and many many more projects!

Annually the FTS aims to raise in the region of £7,000 - £8,000 to support the school. The teaching staff let us know any ideas of things we can work towards and we get fund raising.  We have enjoyed a curry & quiz nights, wine tasting, children’s discos, film nights, along with the traditional Christmas and Summer Fairs and are always open to new ideas!

Once all the school’s running costs and overheads are paid the annual budget  remaining for important resources such as computers, books, paper, art materials and bringing in specialist teaching skills is a mere £20,000. By adding in the region of 30% to this budget the FTS plays a vital role in supporting the children’s education and we really need more people to be part of it.

In addition the FTS plays an important role in bringing together the school community and promoting the school within the community it serves.

So if you want to know more or get involved in any way you can – please get in touch with Clare and Lynsey or ask in the school office
